Prof. Dr. Burhan MAYİR

I was born in 1978 in Istanbul, to parents originally from Trabzon. I completed my primary and secondary education in Istanbul, and graduated from Bursa Open High School – Science Division. I then earned my medical degree from Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, and pursued my general surgery residency at Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine. After becoming a specialist, I continued working at the university for about a year. Between 2006 and 2012, I served at Zonguldak Atatürk State Hospital, and in 2012, I began working at Antalya Training and Research Hospital. In 2019, I voluntarily left my public service position and transitioned into the private sector. Since 2023, I have been seeing patients at my private clinic in Antalya as a General Surgery Specialist. While I focus intensively on metabolic and bariatric surgery, my main area of interest is endoscopic-laparoscopic surgery, also known as minimally invasive or keyhole surgery. I have extensive experience in:
* Metabolic and bariatric surgery
* Anti-reflux surgery (for stomach and esophagus)
* Scarless thyroid surgery (via the neck)
* Oncologic surgery
* Hernia repairs
* Adrenal gland surgery
* Gastrointestinal, liver, and spleen surgeries
* Perianal procedures such as hemorrhoidectomy and anal fissure surgery
I have delivered numerous presentations at national and international congresses, published over 70 peer-reviewed articles, and contributed more than 100 scientific papers to both national and international conferences.
